Dr. Helen Kelly, Lower School Principal, Canadian International School of Hong Kong
Dr. Helen Kelly brings 25 years of experience as an educator, administrator and leader of private-independent schools on three continents to her role as Lower School Principal. Dr. Kelly has served as an educator and senior leader in IB and British international schools, most recently serving as Primary Principal of Berlin International School and Head of Primary at St. Andrews International School, Bangkok, Thailand.
Throughout her career, Dr. Kelly has been committed to the development of the whole-child and fostering an everlasting love of learning. She is a strong proponent of inquiry based learning, and believes in cultivating a diverse range of activities outside the classroom for children to participate in. She is also an advocate of integrating technology into the classroom.
Dr. Kelly is well versed in curriculum alignment and teaching and learning across 11 grade levels, and was responsible for ensuring BIS’ curriculum development and alignment during its recent CIS and PYP reaccreditation and evaluation process.
Dr. Kelly has a deep commitment to life-long learning. Following completion of her Masters in Educational Leadership in 2010, Helen embarked on her Doctorate in Education at the University of Birmingham in the UK, and was awarded her doctorate earlier this year.
